Travel to Segovia in Spain to see the ancient Roman Aqueduct

The Extroadinary Aqueduct of Segovia

Similar to the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt and the citadel of Machu Picchu in Peru, the Aqueduct of Segovia in Plaza del Azoguejo is an incredible stone, man-made monument. Built by the Romans in the 1st and 2nd Centuries, the vast sophistication of this engineering work and sheer physical size to position the boulders in place is a testament to human endeavor. There are 25,000 granite blocks held together without any mortar, and it spans 818 meters with more than 170 arches. It still delivers water today. For anyone fascinated with extraordinary accomplishments, the Aqueduct of Segovia is a wonderful reason to visit Segovia.

Alcázar of Segovia

Learn the noble history of Castile

King Alfonso VII was the King of Castile in the 12th century and began fortifying the earlier fortress, which the Roman and then Muslims had built on the present day site. It is very authentic fortress and offers spectacular views of the 2 rivers upon which it sits. There is also a historical museum of weaponry used throughout the centuries.
Travel Tip: we recommend you take a taxi as it is rather a steep walk to the entrance of the Alcazar.
