Vianden Castle, Luxembourg

Thirty miles north of Luxembourg City is the picturesque town of Vianden where you'll find Vianden Castle towering over this Romanesque town of 1,800 people. March through to October is the ideal time to travel to Luxembourg when the Vianden Castle is open until 5pm. A day spent in Vianden in the summer months can include bicycle riding, hiking and the spectacular chairlift with wonderful views of the town and castle.


The Alzette River, Luxembourg

One of the distinguishing features of Luxembourg is the Alzette River. Flowing from France into Luxembourg, the 45-mile long river joins the Pétrusse River at Luxembourg City. Walk along the river pathways through and admire the breathtaking scenery as the river winds through hills and valleys.


The Old Quarter and Fortress, Luxembourg

Because of its strategic position between France, Germany and Rome, the rocky elevation of Luxembourg was the site of the Luxembourg fortress for over 300 years until it was dismantled in 1867.
