Adelaide Zoo

It wouldn’t be a proper trip to Australia without seeing the animals that call the continent home! The Adelaide Zoo has more than 2,500 animals and 250 species native to Australia, including emus, wallabies, potoroos, quokkas, echidnas, koalas, and red kangaroos. The zoo is located just minutes from the city center in an ideal location near the Botanic Garden. Together with Monarto Zoo, the Adelaide Zoo takes part in massive conservation efforts to help save species from extinction. Adelaide Zoo is the only major zoo in a metropolitan area in Australia to be owned and operated by a conservation charity!

Adelaide Botanic Garden

Located just outside the city center near the Adelaide Zoo, the Adelaide Botanic Garden is comprised of more than 10 individual gardens! Stroll through the International Rose Garden and its 5,000 roses that bloom in spring and fall. Visiting the Australian Native Garden is a great way to learn more about plants indigenous to the Adelaide and greater Australia areas. The Garden of Health grows more than 2,500 plants that are used to encourage wellbeing in cultures around the world.
