One of the best ways to immerse yourself in an authentic Scotland vacation is to book bed and breakfasts outside of the city centers instead of opting for big hotels in the well-trod tourist areas.
Indulging in a few nights of homey hospitality with the locals can transform a cookie cutter vacation into the experience of a lifetime, but there are a few extra steps required to ensure you get the most out of your stay. As soon as you know you’re headed for Scotland’s B&Bs, here’s what you’ll need to know:

Book your B&Bs immediately
If you’ve got B&Bs on the brain, research carefully and book as early as possible – especially for Scotland! We can’t stress this enough! Word is out that Scotland’s B&Bs are some of the most sought-after destinations for an unforgettable retreat. Reservations are needed at least 45 days in advance, but the earlier you book them, the better. In fact, we recommend booking your B&Bs right after you’ve finished booking your package – that way, you can ensure your rooms are secure and you won’t miss your opportunity to get those reservations in!
Pro tip: Reservations made during the winter take a little longer to confirm, since many properties close for the off-season, especially in rural areas!
Have a few backups ready
When reserving your B&Bs on The Circle UK’s website, you will be asked for a second and third choice at each location as properties fill up quickly, especially during the high season and when big events are taking place nearby. Have a few different B&Bs in mind when you’re ready to reserve, just in case your first choice was everyone else’s first choice, too. Make sure to book your B&Bs through The Circle UK’s website. If you book directly with your B&B, the vouchers you receive with your vacation package will not be honored and your payment will not be refunded.
Cancellations are your responsibility
Just like booking, cancellations are also your responsibility. If your plans change and you can’t make it to your B&B or no longer want to use the reservation, it’s up to you to notify The Circle of changes or cancellations 72 business hours prior to arrival. Any changes or cancellations made within 72 business hours of arrival will result in a 100% on any supplements paid to The Circle, regardless of notifications to the company or insurance purchased with the reservation.
Keep your final vouchers safe
Once your reservations are confirmed and all supplements have been paid, The Circle will send you a voucher for each property you’ve booked. These are the only vouchers that will be accepted as payment for your stay in the UK B&Bs.
