Of course you’ve heard of Amsterdam, but have you considered visiting other destinations in the Netherlands? From beach towns to picturesque villages, there is so much more that this country has to offer. Check out these incredible destinations when planning your next trip!


Texel Island

The largest island in the North Sea, Texel is a charming beach town! Within Texel, visitors will find a handful of unique seaside villages. It’s best known for its stretch of sandy beaches, as well as its handful of nature reserves. Visit the Texel Lighthouse, see the seals in Ecomare, shop in Den Berg, and so much more! With a ferry from Den Helder, it’s never been easier to each this slice of paradise!


Rotterdam

Located just an hour outside of Amsterdam is the bustling city of Rotterdam! An important port, Rotterdam is a city of innovation and architecture. The harbor is the spectacular focal point. Tour the city via bus or boat to get a feel for your surroundings. Take a tour of the SS Rotterdam cruise ship and then visit the Euromast, an amazing observation tower for stunning city views!


Kinderdijk

If you’re planning to visit Rotterdam, you should also include a trip to the nearby village of Kinderdijk! With rich culture dating back hundreds of years, history buffs will surely geek out over the chance to visit this village. Kinderdijk lies entirely below sea level and has struggled for centuries to stay dry. It was granted UNESCO World Heritage status in 1997 as a result of its windmill complex that helps keep it dry. It is a perfect place to visit to enjoy a picnic or city escape during your trip to the Netherlands!


Thorn

Located in the south of Holland in the province of Limburg, Thorn is known as the “white town.” Many homes and buildings are whitewashed, and you can even stay in one of these buildings during your visit for an authentic Thorn experience! Thorn is also known for its monastery church, Abdijkerk Thorn. It was built in stages throughout centuries, with the foundation built in the 10th century!

Often referred to as the design capital of the Netherlands, Eindhoven will surprise you with its vibrant energy! Put on the map by the Philips company, Eindhoven has transcended its industrial origins. You can expect to find incredible shops, live theater, museums, and so much more. Eindhoven is also centrally located with many major cities reachable within an hour or two, making it a great stop when traveling through Europe!
