Music Videos That Make Wanderlust Worse

By Rachael Funk

Noted philosopher Madonna once said, “…Music makes the people come together.”

More than that, music has the power to captivate your imagination and transport you to places you’ve never been. You might have caught Justin Bieber’s "I'll Show You" music video shot in Iceland or Coldplay’s "Hymn for the Weekend" filmed in India and felt the pull of the waiting world. Here are a few more music videos that inspire us to keep adding countries to our bucket lists.

Jai Wolf: Indian Summer

To kick things off, check out Jai Wolf’s recently released video for “Indian Summer.” The video perfectly captures a spirit of adventure and showcases California’s natural beauty. Whether your next travel plans are domestic or international, you’re going to be ready to pack a bag in about four minutes.

Kaleo: Way Down we Go

This live performance was shot inside of Iceland’s Thrihnukagigur Volcano. INSIDE AN ACTUAL VOLCANO. It hasn’t erupted in over 4,000 years so if you’re headed to Iceland’s Blue Mountains in 2018, you might be able to shoot your own volcanic expedition!

Jess Glynne: Ain’t Got Far to Go

This music video shot in Cuba is sure to get your toes tapping! The video sends out a taste of life while crowds dance through the vibrant streets of Havana. More celebration than presentation, this one does a great job of capturing the euphoria that comes with a great adventure.

Jeremy Loops: Waves

Explore the paradise that is Mozambique in this beautifully shot video. East Africa may not be an obvious choice if you’re looking for island vibes, but who can argue with this super chill love letter to the ocean?

PSY: New Face

He’s baaack! New Face was shot entirely in Macau, a region regarded as “the Vegas of China.” The video shows off glamourous hotels such as The Parisian Macao, hotel restaurant La Chine, The Venetian, and the streets of the St. Lazarus district. No word on where to pick up a pair of those fancy gold pants, though.

Izzy Bizu: White Tiger

If you’ve got Morocco on your mind, watch this one immediately. The singer from South London described filming in the country as “bloody beautiful man.” Imagine how strong your Instagram game could be in front of those mosaic walls.

Lorde: Perfect Places

Perfect Places is practically an essay on the joys of solo travel. Who wouldn’t want to machete their way through a dreamy jungle, shoot coconuts out of a tree, or ruin a nice dress by floating in a secluded lagoon, replete with waterfall? Likely shot in several different countries, the video has fans guessing Japan, Jamaica, and New Zealand could be on the list of perfect places to recreate these breathtaking shots.

The Beach: Bite My Tongue

Filmed at La Mercè festival in Barcelona, this video’s energy provides a bittersweet sense of escape. It follows the festival from day to night, showing off one of Spain’s official holidays. You might not be ready to join in on the giant human towers, but if Barcelona wasn’t already on your wish list, this video may change your mind.
