While you might associate Nashville solely with country music, this lively city has so much more to offer. The city is filled with charm and culture! My time in Nashville was marked by delicious bbq dinners, country music history, monuments and attractions, and so much more. From brunch and shopping in The Gulch to honky tonking down Broadway, Nashville offers a variety of cultural experiences. I even left with a beautiful pair of authentic cowboy boots! Here’s why you shouldn't give “Music City” a second thought for your next trip.
The Food
Barbecue. Fried chicken. Biscuits. Is your mouth watering yet? It should be! Nashville boasts delicious southern USA cuisine that is not-to-be-missed. Notable spots within the city for bbq include Martin’s and Edley’s. If you’re willing to take a few hours out of your day to drive to the Bluebird Cafe or Loveless Cafe, you’re also in for a major treat. This is true home cooking at its finest, and you’re sure to leave with your belly full and your soul satisfied. I still dream of that White Alabama Sauce ... (If you haven't heard of it, look it up).
The Trolley Tour
If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to become acquainted with the city, consider the Nashville trolley tour! The city’s version of a hop-on/hop-off bus, the trolley tour is the same concept, but on a smaller scale. The trolleys offer a more intimate setting for tour guides to share trivia and information. My experience was personalized for my friends and I, as we had one trolley to ourselves for quite a stretch of the tour, and the guides were super engaging!
The Pedal Taverns
Picture pedaling down Broadway with country music blasting while drinking beer with your besties. I'm pretty positive you’ve seen the photos on Instagram. Pedal taverns are a Nashville staple. If you’re considering a friends group trip to Nashville, this is absolutely a selling point.
The Music
It goes without saying that Nashville is known for its contributions to the music world. Known as the “Capital of Country Music,” you can find live performers just about anywhere around the city. Stroll up and down Broadway for a true taste of the country music scene. You're sure to be blown away by the talent!
The Landmarks
The Ryman Auditorium and the Grand Ole Opry are two incredibly important landmarks in Nashville. Visit them to learn more about the history of country music and those who have made significant contributions. Both have hosted hundreds of notable musicians and bands over the years, including Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire, Brad Paisley, and so many more. The Ryman is located in the heart of the downtown area, while the Opry is located on the outskirts of the city. Both venues offer tours that are sure to be a highlight of your trip!
