By Dana Perkiss

Dublin has long been known as a friendly and welcoming city, offering tons of fine dining experiences, comfortable cafes, and fresh produce from local farms. To help keep you up to date with what’s new in food, here are some of the best restaurants that have opened in Dublin recently!

Glas

15/16 Chatham St, 2 Dublin

For the vegetarian and vegan folx out there, you must try Glas. This plant-based, sustainably-sourced restaurant provides gourmet vegetable dishes made from local produce and cooked fresh each day. The name itself means “green” and is decorated as such inside, with flowers and plants to compliment the cuisine. The menu features mouthwatering dishes that even carnivores will devour, like the blue cheese crème brûlée, charcoal potato croquettes, and the flamed kohlrabi with sunflower seed puree. There’s also a wide selection of vegan beers, wines, and cocktails available, as well as flavorful desserts for you to end the night with.

Lenehan's Bar & Grill

7-9 Rathgar Road, Dublin 6

On Rathgar road you’ll find Lenehan’s Bar & Grill, a new locally friendly restaurant for folx to relax and enjoy drinks and food. They have three outdoor terraces and a rooftop bar, so you’re in for a scenic treat when you dine there. They have plenty of shareable starters like lobster spring rolls and twice-cooked pork tacos, and their entrees boasts mains like the pan-fried stuff lamb with crispy sweetbread. They also have plenty of gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, and vegan options, as well as a brunch and kids’ menu.

Volpe Nera

22 Newtown Park, Newtownpark, Blackrock, Co. Dublin, A94 D780

Known as a comfortable neighborhood restaurant offering modern Mediterranean dishes, Volpe Nera (which means ‘black fox’) can be found between Blackrock and Foxrock (get the name now?). This new Mediterranean-inspired restaurant expands two floors and offers an array of snacks, shareable plates, and desserts for people to enjoy. The menu features delectable dishes, including homemade fresh bread with mushroom butter, spinach and ricotta malfatti, and beef-dripped potatoes. They also offer an expansive wine list with vegan options.

Woodruff

Unit 7, The Village, Stepaside, Dublin 18

Serving up contemporary Irish food with a weekly-changing menu focused on sustainable, local produce, Woodruff has quickly become a neighborhood favorite. Set in a comfortable environment to accompany the relaxed atmosphere, this is a perfect restaurant for a peaceful dining experience. Though the menu changes often, some popular favorites include salted cod croquettes with kimchi mayo, wild halibut with a mussel and truffle sauce, and salt aged black angus striploin with summer truffle and foie gras jus.

The Wine Pair

79 Clanbrassil St Lower, D08 K516

Feeling the need for a casual wine bar where people can come in to drink wine and pick on charcuterie in an unpretentious environment, Canice and Mags McKee opened The Wine Pair. The menu constantly changes with new organic European wines, accompanied by cheese and charcuterie from local Irish produce. They have an expansive wine list and offer wine on tap, as well as reusable bottles to take home.
