As summer comes to a close, you can find plenty to do while roaming the streets of Prague. The city has tons of museums, public holidays and a variety of festivals in September that will make you experience Prague like a local. Here are 9 amazing events in Prague this September!

1. The Knights of Heaven Exhibition

The National Museum in Prague invites you to explore the world of The Knights of Heaven, a group of about 2,000 Czech pilots who fought during World War II. Here, you can learn about the pilots’ lives, their struggles and what they faced on the battlefield. The exhibition is open all month along, so you won’t miss your chance to learn more about The Knights of Heaven.

2. Foodparade

Join in on some culinary fun at Foodparade, the weekend-long food spectacular from Aug. 31 to Sept. 1. The event is held in the Chateau Troja gardens and is meant to be a relaxing food experience for all. Participating restaurants create specialty items and old favorites to serve all visitors, and you might even find a new favorite recipe or two!

3. JD Burgerfest 2019

Obsessed with any and all things burger-related? Check out the JD Burgerfest, an event that revolves around finding the best recipes burgers in Europe. The festival invites you to try some great food, while enjoying the live music and other forms of entertainment the event offers.

4. Birell Prague Grand Prix

This 10K is not the event to miss, as racers navigate the winding city streets at twilight. You can choose to sit back and enjoy the evening air, or join in on the fun yourself! The race takes place on Sept. 7.

5. Dvořák Prague International Festival 2019

Hosted at one of the most prestigious concert venues in Prague, the Dvořák Prague International Festival honors the work of Antonín Dvořák. The Czech composer became world-famous because of his skill, and he was one of the first people to make the Czech musical style popular. The festival starts on Sept. 8, but you can catch performances of Dvořák’s pieces all month long.

6. Prague Autumn International Music Festival 2019

From Sept. 12 to the end of the month, Prague explodes in musical celebration during the Autumn International Music Festival. See some world-class concerts throughout the month from some of the best acts in the world, as the city also celebrates autumn’s arrival.

7. Grape Harvest at the Prague Botanical Garden

Roam around the beautiful Botanical Gardens and sample the season’s fresh wine at the Grape Harvest event. Each year, the wine-tasting event is presented alongside entertainment for guests and other food options. The gardens hosts their wine event from Sept. 14-15, so make sure to stop by and take a sip.

8. Bach For All International Music Festival

The Bach for All International Music Festival starts in March and stretches throughout the year, but on Sept. 27 **you can enjoy the magnificent work of Bach performed by Prague Conservatoire students. This is the third year the festival has gone on, and it invites visitors from around the world to celebrate Bach and his musical accomplishments.

9. St. Wenceslas Day

Sept 28 marks St. Wenceslas Day, a national holiday throughout Czech Republic. The day commemorates St. Wenceslas, a patron saint who was killed by his own brother and his followers in 935. Across the country, citizens celebrate the end of summer and this day with festivals, gospel music and great food!
